Let Your Light Shine! Did you know that Sacred Heart has a very special peer tutoring program? The program began this school year, in light of educational research which indicates that support from older more-skilled students, can promote skill attainment, especially in language and reading. There is no doubt that children can relate to each other in a different way than adults. Offering support in as many different ways as possible helps ensure that students have opportunities to learn and improve their skills in a manner consistent with their personal learning styles. Sacred Heart continues to strive for academic excellence by providing unique learning opportunities for our students. Programs such as peer tutoring give our older students the opportunity to live the gospel values which are at the core of our curriculum. Our students are stewards of the school and act in service of the goals of Catholic education. Many thanks to the children who have taken part in this program, displaying generosity, patience and leadership in helping younger students. We are so very proud of the quality of character exhibited by our tutors! 8th Grade: Kaley Walsh, Doug Pham, Jacob Schmidt, Nigel Neibel, Garrick Nielsen, Joseph Zopel, Kathleen Millett, Emmanuel Corpuz 7th Grade: Mary Grace Mahoney 6th Grade: Stephen Andrusyk, Sarah Ernat, Mira Schwanke, Izzy Juda, Sophia Sullivan, Lupe Herrmann, Charlie Nielsen Many thanks to Cris Bila and Maureen O'Neill Nielsen, the Peer Tutoring Moderators, who made this program possible!
