Let Your Light Shine! Lainey Nielsen (SHS Class of 2013, MCHS class of 2017) and her mother, Sacred Heart School Assistant Principal, Maureen O'Neill Nielsen, have recently returned from a service immersion trip to LaJoya, Nicaragua where they helped build houses for two families that subsist from the garbage dump there. The group of nine Montini students together with Mrs O'Neill Nielsen, Montini Campus Minister, Mr Michael Blanchette and Montini AP Spanish Teacher Mrs. Hilda Castor, mixed concrete and assembled rebar supports for the foundations for houses for two single mothers and their children. The group also tutored and visited with the 20 children who reside in a group home for boys in the area. Mrs Nielsen delivered a classroom set of water colors donated by the fifth grade SHS students. The trips are organized by International Samaritan which serves victims of severe poverty in developing countries by helping to alleviate hunger, homelessness, endemic disease and ignorance.
