Let Your Light Shine! Congratulations to shining lights Elaine Nielsen, Nicholas Roferos, and Mary Watson! These Sacred Heart graduates are three of the 50 new members proudly inducted into the Montini catholic High School National Honor Society! National Honor Society students are required to maintain a 3.5 cumulative GPA, perform 20 hours of community service each year and act as a leader of the school. The students must also demonstrate the “six pillars of character: respect, responsibility, trustworthiness, fairness, caring and citizenship.”
Let Your Light Shine! Congratulations to shining lights Matthew Ernat and Matthew Kaefer, who have been named as Commended Students in the 2016 National Merit Scholarship Program! Both are seniors at Montini Catholic High School and Sacred Heart School graduates and parishioners. Montini principal Maryann O’Neill is proud of the 2 students and is sure that this recognition will further encourage them to develop their academic potential to the fullest.
Let Your Light Shine! Congratulations to shining light Jimmy Fitzpatrick, who was pictured in the Lombardian on Wednesday, October 28th! Jimmy, a third grader at Sacred Heart, was the lucky winner of the "Guess How Much Candy is in the Jar" contest sponsored by RE/MAX Achievers, in downtown Lombard.The contest was held during the annual Lombard Town Centre Spooktacular Fall Festival on Oct. 18th.
This past summer, State Representative and Sacred Heart Parishioner, Peter Breen, held his first annual summer reading program. 75 children from the community, including several from Sacred Heart School, took part in the reading program. Each child that completed the program received a certificate, an insulated lunch bag with coupons and pamphlets from local businesses, and attended a party held at the Parish Center. Congratulations to all participants and to Rep. Peter Breen for the successful event!
Let your Light Shine! Congratulation to shining lights and Sacred Heart School graduates Jack Westerkamp and Matthew Kaefer! Montini Catholic High School has announced its National Honor Society officers for the 2015-2016 school year, and Jack Westerkamp has been named Treasurer and Matthew Kaefer, Sergeant-of-Arms. NHS students are required to maintain a 3.5 cumulative GPA and have successfully petitioned for membership based on grades, leadership, service and character. The students sponsor several service activities throughout the year, including the Golden Gobbler Thanksgiving Food Drive.
Let Your Light Shine! Congratulation to shining light Renee Sipek, first grade teacher at Sacred Heart, who has been awarded the Core Values of Catholic Education Award! This award was established by the Catholic Schools Office to recognize teachers who exemplify the values of a Catholic education in all areas of their lives. Teachers were nominated by their principals, and the nomination forms were reviewed by members of the Catholic Schools Office staff. Recipients of the award were recognized at the Diocesan Teachers Institute on August 21, and were presented with a certificate by Fr. John Belmonte, S.J, Superintendent of Catholic Schools for the Diocese of Joliet. (Mrs. Renee Sipek is pictured 4th from the left)

On Sunday, September 6, 2015, the Knights of Columbus council had corporate communion at Sacred Heart Church and following mass, presented an award to Shining Light Rhiannon Cassata for finishing second in the State of Illinois`Keeping Christ in Christmas Poster Contest`. Congratulations to shining light and Sacred Heart School dad Ross Felten, who has illustrated his first children’s book titled “Ava the Monster Slayer”. Ross and his wife Carrie are parents to daughters Fiona, who attends Sacred Heart preschool, and Nora, who attends kindergarten. Last week Ross visited the kindergarten and preschool classes to share the book with the students.
Let Your Light Shine! Congratulations to Shining Light Christopher Bauer! Christopher is a Sacred Heart School Alum and sophomore at St. Francis High School in Wheaton. He achieved a GPA of 4.0 or better in the second semester of his freshman year and made the “A” honor roll!
Congratulations to Shining Light Rhiannon Cassata! Rhiannon won 1st place in the Knights of Columbus "Keeping Christ in Christmas" Poster Contest! Rhiannon is a recent Sacred Heart School graduate, who is beginning her freshman year at The Willows Academy in Des Plaines. She will be honored by the Knights of Columbus at 8:30AM mass on September 6th.
Megan Huff, recent graduate of Sacred Heart School, attended a special orientation event called Quest on August 11th, at Montini Catholic High School. The orientation gave freshmen the opportunity to meet upperclassmen, teachers and staff.
